Quote
"God's people have their trials. It was never designed by God, when He chose His people, that they should be an untried people. They were chosen in the furnace of affliction; they were never chosen to worldly peace and earthly joy. Freedom from sickness and the pains of mortality was never promised them; but when their Lord drew up the charter of privileges, He includes chastisement amongst the things to which they should inevitably be heirs. Trials are a part of our lot; they were predestined for us in Christ's last legacy. So surely as the stars are fashioned by His hands, and their orbits fixed by Him, so surely are our trials allotted to us: He has ordained their season and their place, their intensity and the effect they shall have upon us. Good men must never expect to escape troubles; if they do, they will be disappointed, for none of their predecessors have been without them. Mark the patience of Job; remember Abraham, for he has his trials, and by his faith under them, he became the "Father of the faithful." Note well the biographies of all the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and you shall discover none of those whom God made vessels of mercy, who were not made to pass through the fire of affliction. It is ordained of old that the cross of trouble should be engraved on every vessel of mercy, as the royal mark whereby the King's vessels of honour are distinguished. But although tribulation is thus path of God's children, they have the comfort of knowing that their Master has traversed it before them; they have His presence and sympathy to cheer them, His grace to support then, and His example to teach them how to endure; and when they reach "the kingdom," it will more than make amends for the "much tribulation" through which they passed to enter it." -Charles Spurgeon

Christ - Our Atonement
"What Christ gave as an atonement was himself, namely his person; not his body without his soul, nor his soul without his body, nor his human nature without his divine nature, but he offered up his person. *His divine nature did not suffer, but it sustained and added virtue to the suffering of his human nature.* He was treated as the chiefest of sinners; the Father hid His face from Him; He suffered the extreme of man's rage; he suffered his people's hell; yea, he drank it to its dregs; he answered all the claims of the law, to the extreme of its demands; he was found to be as the covering of the Ark, the same width, the same length.
In light of this atonement I see the evil of sin and the severity of the law: all the perfections of God shining to the greatest degree: the greatest love and the bittersweet sufferings; with all appropriateness, he could say, "What sorrow is like unto my sorrow?" He drank the cup of millions. Here I see a fountain to wash the unclean, an example for every Christian of how he should behave in the midst of his greatest grief that should befall him in this world. Here I see the devil with his head bruised and his work being destroyed: and eternal justice being ushered in. Christ provided an atonement for our sin while in a triple relationship with us: 1) As being our surety. 2) As being our family. 3) As being married to us. Except for this relationship in triplicate Christ would profit us nothing. Those objects for whom Christ died are those who have gone to glory, and those who will go to him."

John Calvin Quote
"Thus we see that fear, which awakens faith, is not in itself faulty till it goes beyond bounds... Its excess lies in disturbing or weakening the composure of faith, which ought to rest on the word of God. But as it never happens that believers exercise such restraint on themselves as to keep their faith from being injured, their fear is almost always attended by sin. Yet we ought to be aware that it is not every kind of fear which indicates a want of faith, but only that dread which disturbs the peace of the conscience in such a manner that it does not rest on the promise of God." -John Calvin

Lovely Quote For Women
“A woman in her glory, a woman of beauty,
is a woman who is not striving to become beautiful or worthy or enough.
She knows in her quiet center where God dwells that He finds her beautiful,
has deemed her worthy, and in Him, she is enough.”

Quotes Quotes Quotes
"Unless I am convicted by the testimony of the Scriptures or by clear reason, for I do not trust either in the popes or in councils alone, since it is well known that they have often erred and contradict themselves, I am bound to the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not retract anything, since it is neither safe nor right to go against conscience. I cannot do otherwise, here I stand. May God help me; Amen." --Martin Luther at the Diet of Worms; April 18, 1521
O send the day of joy and light,
For long has been our sorrow's night;
We wait until Thy help appears;
With us and with our sons abide,
In us let God be glorified,
In us let God be glorified.
"So unspiritual are many men's minds, and so unsavory their judgements that they reckon men's happiness by their possessions, and suppose the catalogue of their titles to be a roll of their felicities, calling the proud happy and advancing in our conceits "them that work wickedness," Mal. 3:13; but God will one day come in with another reckoning, and make them know that all things without Christ are but as ciphers without a figure...of no value." --John Owen

Peas's Quotes - The World From The Perspective Of A Three-Year Old
On Tuesday mornings I babysit for this ladies' group...they have a Bible study from 9-11 and so I watch any of their kids. It used to be Rachel and I...and we could get upwards to 7 or 8 kids. Well...Rachel had to quit because she got married and work would have been too far for her to drive...and the number of kids had been going down for a while. Well...it's gotten so bad that now today I got to watch just Peas. Her name is really Elizabeth...but her nickname is Peas (no one can remember why). So everyone calls her Peas! She's three...but her birthday is coming up on February 10th...she is such a smart little cookie...such a sweetheart and just plain adorable. I've got plenty of pictures of her on my picture blog...and lately she's taken to grabbing the camera and snapping shots of me. But she also has the tendency to saw the darnedest things! So I've begun to write all the funny/cute things that pop out of her mouth! There are a lot more than I ever thought possible! So here are some of them!
Peas - I love food!
Me - Me too!
Peas - Me three!
Peas - I have a little cough. I'm sick because I drank too much chocolate milk.
Me - Can I have my camera back?
Peas - No! Don't you know cameras are dangerous?
Peas - Show me your dragon face!
Peas - I'm a rock star! See...I just pull my jacket like this and now I can get warm!
Peas - Where's the lid?
Me - I don't know...where is the lid?
Peas - You're supposed to look behind my back!
Peas - Come chase me!
Me - Come chase you? Are you trying to tire me out?
Peas - Yes!
Me - I wish I had my camera so I could take a picture of your pretty shirt.
Peas - And I would take a picture of you and your pretty eyes
(Kids say the darnedest things!)
Peas - That one is super yuuumyyy pootie poot!
Peas - We can build a castle with so many stuff! Like so many toys!
Peas - We have to think so put on your thinking smarts. You have to sit just like this and tap your cheek with your finger.
Me - Ohh, what did you draw me?
Peas - Macaroni and big cheese and little cheese!
Peas - It's cheese.
Me - Yeah, cuz it's orange.
Peas - Yup, I think it's a girl.
Me - A girl?
Peas - Yeah, see? A girl shark.

Book Quote
"We find ourselves living with a nagging hope for something better. We want something better than the churchianity of our parents and grandparents, something better than the vague and uncertain spirituality of our neighbors, something better than guilt-induced, holier-than-thou morality, something better than here-and-now, health-and-wealth promises, something more than going-through-the-motions religiosity or the latest-fad religious experience. We were hoping for something authentic—something worth opening our hearts to and filling our minds with and giving our lives for.
And there is something better. There is something better than living life with a merely sentimental, superficial spirituality. There is something better than going through life with a debilitating fear of death. Better than becoming bored and burdened by meaningless religious ritual, better than feeling like an unwelcome outsider or an unworthy hypocrite, better than being bound by shame and regret."
I don't know what the name of the book is...but I got this from a friend on Facebook and really enjoyed reading it!

Quotes On Truth And Wives
Truth: the most deadly weapon ever discovered by humanity. Capable of destroying entire perceptual sets, cultures, and realities. Outlawed by all governments everywhere. Possession is normally punishable by death." - John Gilmore
"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell
"Note 1: A good wife is a great blessing to a man. He that finds a wife (that is, a wife indeed;a bad wife does not deserve to be called by a name of so much honor), that finds a help meet for him (that is a wife in the original acceptation of the word), that sought such a one with care and prayer and has found what he sought, he has found a good thing, a jewel of great value, a rare jewel; he has found that which will not only contribute more than anything to his comfort in this life, but will forward him in the way to heaven. 2. God is to be acknowledged in it with thankfulness; it is a token of his favour, and a happy pledge of further favours; it is a sign that God delights in a man to do him good and has mercy in store for him; for this, therefore, God must be sought unto." - Matthew Henry on Proverbs 18:22, Puritan Divine
"God the first Instituter of marriage, gave the wife unto the husband, to be, not his servant, but his helper, counselor and comforter." -John Downame, Puritan Divine

Some Deep Christmas Quotes
"Infinite, and an infant. Eternal, and yet born of a woman. Almighty, and yet hanging on a woman's breast. Supporting a universe, and yet needing to be carried in a mother's arms. King of angels, and yet the reputed son of Joseph. Her of all things, and yet the carpenter's despised son. Oh, the wonder of Christmas." - Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892)
"He, through whom time was mad, was made in time;
and He, older by eternity that the world itself, was younger in age than many of His servants in the world;
He, who made man, was made man;
He was given existence by a mother whom he brought into existence;
He was carried in hands which he formed;
He nursed at breasts which He filled;
He cried like a babe in the manger in speechless infancy - this Word without which human eloquence is speechless!"
Sermon On Christmas by Augustine of Hippo
"For the sun to fall from its sphere, and be degraded into a wandering atom, for an angel to be turned out of heaven, and to be converted into a silly fly or worm, had been no such great abasement; for they were but creatures before, and so they would abide still, though in an inferior order or species of creatures. The distance betwixt the highest and lowest species of creatures, is but a finite distance. The angel and the worm dwell not so far apart. But for the infinite glorious Creator of all things, to become a creature, is a mystery exceeding all human understanding. The distance between God and the highest order of creatures, is an infinite distance." - John Flavel

More Quotes
"But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light."
You do not come to truth by counting noses. Majority does not make right. Neither does might.
"This is what the Lord says: 'Let not wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,' declares the Lord." Quotes On Marriage, Love, and Family
"Loving Each Other: this is both the husband's (Colossians 3:19) and the wife's duty (Titus 2:4). Love is the great reason and comfort of marriage. This love is not merely romance, but genuine and constant affection and care for each other "fervently with a pure heart" (1 Peter 1:22). Marital love cannot be base on beauty or wealth, for these are passing, and not even on piety, for that may decay. It must be based upon Gods command which never changes. The marriage vow obligates "for better or for worse," and married persons ought to consider their own spouses the best in the world for them. Marital love must be durable, lasting even after death has severed the bond (Proverbs 31:12). This true-hearted love brings true content and comfort in its train. It guards against adultery and jealousy. It prevent or lessens family trouble. Without it, the marriage is like a bone out of joint. There is pain until it is restored." Richard Steele
"There is no society more near, more entire, more needful, more kindly, more delightful, more comfortable, more constant, more continual, than the society of man and wife, the main root, source, and original of all other society." Thomas Gataker
"There is no society more near, more entire, more needful, more kindly, more delightful, more comfortable, more constant, more continual, than the society of man and wife, the main root, source, and original of all other society." Thomas Gataker
Quotes
"Our rule of life is the commandment of the Lord, not the doubtful conclusions which may be drawn from providences" Charles Spurgeon
"I deny not but you have cause to inquire what His providence speaketh in this to you, but that God's directing and commanding will can by no good logic be concluded from events of providence." Samuel Rutherford
Just some thoughts to ponder and mull over!

Problems and Our Best
"A problem is your chance to do your best."
-- Duke Ellington
I found this quote this morning and it really encouraged me. It just reminded me that in troubles or trials or sufferings of any kind it's not really a problem...it's a test. A test and an opportunity to be able to perform our best under pressure. It's always a test...a promise that maybe we can be stronger than the time before!
I'm sorry I haven't been posting more...between wedding plans, music auditions of all kinds, school work, ACT prep, college applications, and work...well...you get the point. Prayers would be very appreciated...last night was an eye-opening realization that Rachel is going to be gone in 2 weeks...and nothing will ever be the same. Really weird and kinda hard at the same time. Have a lovely weekend!
Quote
“God will show you an answer. But you have to understand that sometimes it takes a while to be able to recognize what God wants you to do. That's how it often is. God's voice is usually nothing more than a whisper, and you have to listen very carefully to hear it. But other times, in those rarest of moments, the answer is obvious and rings as loud as a church bell.”

Move Mountains
"When a person becomes crystal clear as to exactly what they
want to accomplish, and focuses their time and energy on this
one goal, any person can move mountains."
-- Jimmy Sweeney
I know what I want to accomplish. I know what I want to do in life. I want to live a Godly life that is entirely focused upon God...His glory to shine through...His praises to be sung...His name to be preached. My life has become focused and my energy poured into making this goal possible. We, as Christians, should be so utterly focused on this that life should be this powerful and meaningful. And with Christ, we *can* move mountains. My prayer for you right now is that you too have this goal set upon your life...you have God's seal of promise stamped upon your heart...your main goal in life is to glorify God and to bring Him all the praise and glory that you possibly can. Go move your mountains!
Blessings.

Yes...I Love Quotes
I don't have a lot of time nowadays to be typing out a lot of super educational things, but I still love sharing things...and I come across quotes all the time so here's another one!
"Make a pact with yourself today to not be defined by your
past. Sometimes the greatest thing to come out of all your
hard work isn't what you get for it, but what you become for
it. Shake things up today! Be You... Be Free... Share."
-- Steve Maraboli

Quote on Love
"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
